Healthy cookies?

I decided to make some “healthy” cookies today. I don’t really like cookies too much, but my husband does. Another bonus was that I got to play with the Kitchenaid mixer again. I love that thing!

Is there something like a healthy cookie? Well this recipe comes pretty close. I followed it precisely except for the milk. I milk in the fridge had gone bad so I substituted half-and-half. Not sure if that contributed to the taste or not. I initially spooned out large cookies but those took way too long to cook. Almost suspiciously long. So I made the next batch smaller and stuck them in the top rack.

I didn’t like the taste too much. They were too sweet for me. But my husband loved them! I guess it wasn’t a big waste of time then. Also it’s kind of nice that they have less calories than regular cookies. The cookies turned out very soft and fluffy like mini cakes. I prefer chewy cookies so next time I’ll just try a traditional recipe and eat fewer!

  1. Hi Shash, love your blog. Been following it since you posted one recipe blog on Facebook.

I wanted to ask how you liked the very famous “Dal Bukhara”. I’ve always had it off a tinned package, never had the real one.

How come updates come so late? :) Isn’t it like 3 AM for you?

    • Hi Divya, thanks for the comment! I’m hoping this time around I will actually keep posting regularly. I didn’t know the Dal Bukhara is from that restaurant. Hmm, it may just be the the restaurant took it’s name from that dish. I need to check. But the Dal they had in Bukhara restaurant was outstanding! I wish I had more room in my stomach to eat more. :) I think the time zone on this is off, because I’m posting the entries around 11pm or so, not 3am.

  2. Hi Shash

Yes, Dal Bukhara gets its name because it was first made in the Bukhara restaurant. And not the other way around :) So the dal they served was the black gram dal is it? Then you must have had the original and authentic Dal Bukhara! Congratulations! I will some day too ;)

  3. Shash, can’t find that note I found many years ago on the origin of Dal Bukhara. So the origin is debatable till I find it ;) But I think I read it off the pack of ITC’s ready-to-eat Dal Bukhara ;)
